Base Taxi?

I heard a while back that there was to be a new base taxi service on Yokota. It was said that they will be able to operate on AND off base. Is this true? If so, when does it start?

I've heard something along that same line, that a base taxi service is coming back, and that there will be taxis that can, say, bring you from Fussa station directly to your destination on base. No confirmed details, just the typical rumor mill stuff.

That one is being worked through AAFES..Should be a great option for the Airmen. Believe they are still workign out contract issues, particularly with respect to base entrance. I understand that we can expect this option in the future. How soon is still to be determined.

One of our board members called the cab company and was told that their service sould be available in the next month or so, pending base driving pass approval.

So, 'till then...

The base now has taxi service available. They can go on and off base. Look for the plagued in the windshield.

All Japanese pay phone will be removed from base in the coming weeks. This is due to lack of use and high cost to maintain.

Unfortunately that information has proven to be incorrect. The taxis cannot come on base just yet. In a month or so...

If you look on channel 7 it says at the bottom of the screen that they are now doing it. How ever- it also states that the language is only JAPANESE!!! Not sure hwo much business they will get if you have to speak Japanese.

Yep they're already doing it. I saw a couple of those taxi cabs on base the other day; but yes, it says only in Japanese so if you can't speak the language...
